Collet knobs are used where the component shaft is round without a 'flat' spot and provides a secure, tight grip onto the shaft
This knob was removed from some German laboratory equipment, intended for very small diameter shafts (3.2mm diameter)

Material: Plastic body with brass collet clamp
DIMENSIONS:
KNOB: 9.1mm (top) ~ 10.15mm (base) - very slight bevel x 14.25mm height
Collet fits a 3.2mm round shaft
The base has a removeable ring with small pointer, so this knob can be used with or without a point. The 'pointer ring" is secured in place by three small pins.
The photograph shows this pointer ring installed, I forgot to separate it when taking the photograph.
Also take note that although the photograph suggests there is a white dot on top of the cap, this is just my poor photography and in fact that white dot is reflected light!
Tightening or loosening of the collet is via the slot head under the top cap
