Consider this component as a type of extender, one side has the 8 male pins, with a central "key", the other end of the base has 8 female sockets for a valve and this topside socket is also keyed. There is no base "surround" unlike the other octal base I am offering and this makes for easy access to the valve pins from topside. We used this type of socket with the valve partially inserted, leaving a short length of the pins exposed and using a hook probe, were able to easily measure voltages on the pins without having to go into the chassis from the underneath, very convenient.

When inserted into the equipment valve socket, this base raises the height of the socket by 25.5mm
