HISTORY:
Sustainability is the name of the game! Anything (that has been tested and still functioning properly) should be repurposed creating saving in wasted Ee and reducing the poisoning our environment when items are buried in the earth at the local tip needlessly.
Never heard of Ee? It is a concept that creates a measurement of ALL things (not just electronics) that humans have made and the energy used in obtaining the raw material, processing the materials right through to a finished product and even should include the shipping of the item to the distributors/retailers.

This component has been removed from working (but obsolete) specialised UK radio test equipment made by a very well known commercial and military communications systems supplier, RACAL.
As you would expect in broadcast equipment, the component is of a very high build quality although I cannot identify the part number! Build quality is very good and the thermoplastic does not suffer any "thread softness" as you may experience with elcheapo plastics used for this purpose.

There are two solder pins at the rear, one is the hot pin (centre) and is Gold plated, the other is Ground return or shield AND the ground return pin is totally isolated from the front panel mounted metal-ware, due to the thermoplastic "through chassis hole" construction of this socket. This means that this socket can have signal input or outputs which are completely floating which respect to the equipment chassis ground.
Flat spot on one side at the rear threaded section, so the connector cannot rotate once mounted in the correct "cutout"
Rear section requires a 9.5mm hole, with a flat spot
Solder pin termination (solder cup for the centre and flat tinned termination for the ground)
The Gold plating is used on the entire centre pin i.e the front socket "hole" is also Gold plated

Rear pins have been substantially cleaned of previous solder - ready to take new connections
To maintain the condition, each socket has now been sealed in a clear plastic packet
