WHO WOULD WANT ONE OF THESE?

From our direct experience, these are FANTASTIC for short run audio CD duplication in particular.
Great little "side business" providing small CD runs to bands or artists but we know of some bands who bought one of these themselves and made their own duplicate CD's to sell at the gig door or send to A&R hoping that a record label will sign them up.

Venues don't usually pay bands or artists very much, (peanuts in fact) and often you are playing for "beer money" By making say 30 copies of your latest EP or even a full album at the venue for say $10 a pop, there is an extra $300 in your pocket(s) for the nights work.

Muso's love their artform but still have to eat and drink, so its great to make some extra money on the side.

This equipment is also very useful in a studio, making safety copies of masters for the clients.

On the other hand, this does not exclude all the small software startup's, publishing houses etc who need a small number of copies of their product master - software, multimedia or an Enhanced CD with both audio and CDROM data.

As it also duplicates DVD's, this equipment is great for event video or photography providers - make the master and then quickly create copies of that master for distribution or resale.

The same applies for Blu-ray formats as for DVD's

COSMETIC CONDITION:

Clean, undamaged case - in fact the case is very strong and sturdy

Fold down carry handle on the top - easy to move around or take to client sites

Control module LCD panel is undamaged

Control module buttons are undamaged

TESTING:

We used this often in the previous business (pro audio post production) but have now retired from that area of work.

It has been sitting in the storage so I took it out and fired it up...

Still with the original setup (you can easily configure what it does at turn on)

Powers up fine - does a counted self test, checking the system and the presence of drives

Next all drive trays open, then the source closes because it is going to try and read a source disc

If a source disc has been inserted, it analyses the disc and reads/copies it

If the copy drives have discs in their trays, they will close and the duplication process begins.

After the copying is complete, I currently have the system setup to then compare the data on the copies with the source.

EVERYTHING performed exactly as it is designed to do.

The case has two fans, one for the power supply and the other for the case internal cooling - both run quietly without any issues. Noise level is important if this gear is situated in the control room of a studio.

I used some great Pearl Jam music for my source disc and made perfect copies of the source - no issues at all

Same tests were made with a video DVD source - excellent copies made

Because of my direct experience for many many years in the music industry, I can give lots of guidance on the CD media that are most suitable for creating music copies, the adviseable reading and writing speeds and general setup so that you get 100% perfect copies every time.

Of course the CD decoration or labelling is up to the user - you can get CDr or DVD writeable media screen printed beforehand or use a thermal printer (expensive) or media with inkjet printable coatings (prone to water damage) or plain old stick on printed paper labels.
