ARX 15 band - 2 independant channel EQ processor for professional use

Model EQ 15

More equipment from our old audio production days

Very high quality design and build - these ARX EQ units are perfect for the studio, home recording or even a high end EQ with the consumer audio equipment.

With 15 bands, there is plenty of room to massage your audio - in the studio to provide cut or boost to the source material, PA or Home use to allow for room resonances etc

Being designed for professional use, the inputs and outputs are balanced with dual outputs on XLR and tip-ring-sleeve 6.5mm plugs - very convenient.

If used for the home, it is simple to "take off" the audio from the "hot" side of the balanced inputs and outputs, a simple adapter XLR to RCA would be needed.

Switch on the back to lift the ground from earth - great for earth loop problems.

On the front, each channel can be switched "out" of the EQ unit. Gain on the input can be switched between two levels and then fine adjusted with the gain control.

Clipping indication (red led)

Each channel has a "sledge hammer" 30Hz cut switch if you want to hard limit frequency response below 30Hz.

TESTING:

This equipment was in regular use by our post-production studios and never missed a beat.
It does a great job, well designed and built tough.

Note that when the EQ control for any channel is set to 0dB - that particular frequency filter is effectively taken out of circuit which reduces overall noise.

I tested both channels using a 600mV source.

All functions work perfectly.

I then pushed the input level up somewhat to make sure clipping occurred - the clip detector is fine and the sound is then horrible as you would expect.

The front panel photograph shows an "arty" setup - there is no way in the world you would be running audio through the unit with those settings but its better than just a straight line!

COSMETICS:

Having been in a rack all its life, just some scrape marks where the unit has been slide in and out but nothing terrible.

Front panel is very thick aluminium with etched labelling - this will not rub off!

Overall, the cosmetics are very good to excellent.

Great equipment from an Australian company (Victorian)
