SHELLEY Fine China

Fine Bone China

Translucent, meaning if held to light you can see the shadow of your fingers through the china

Made in England

Sweet Dish (Small)

Backstamp would indicate this piece dates during the period 1938 ~ 1966 but we "feel" that due to similarity of design to other pieces we have, this is likely to be from the early 1950's

Backstamp (pale green) reads:

FINE BONE CHINA

SHELLEY

(within a shield shape)

ENGLAND

No pattern number or other markings except for the artist's marks

Bright White base background colouring

Heavily scalloped/folded sides with a finger handle at each end of the dish, typical Shelley design of the day, very delicate and dainty

Hand decorated by a skilled artist

Artist "marks" are on the underside, just above the backstamp design (dabs of Cream & Lime Green paint)

Lime Green on top of each side finger handle and all around the scalloped edge

Three different flower bud designs, one looks similar to a Rosemary and another Bluebells, flower colours are Pink/Red, Yellow/Mauve & Blue and all have some foliage included.
