Oh Dear! This item has been sold but take a look around for other similar items

Originally a design of Chinese origin, then Johnson Brothers produced their own local product.

Extremely collectable, even back many years ago Queen Mary II began collecting the Chinese chinaware, putting these into her custom made "china cabinet"

One of the most recognisable designs in old English dinnerwares and in its day, very common to see especially in the better hotels of Britain.

Based on the backstamp, these most likely date from the 1940's - 50's although the backstamp started being used in 1912. Dating Blue Willow accurately can be extremely difficult and must take into account the design, number of various subjects within the design but our "gut feeling" is that these are from the period indicated above.

Johnson Brothers

Blue Willow

Most likely produced in the period 1940 - 1950's

Comprises 2x trio's PLUS one spare teacup

Cake plates and saucers have the Johnson Brothers backstamp

The teacups are simply stamped Made In England

COSMETIC CONDITION:

TEA CUPS - both are in excellent condition with no chips, fleabites, cracks or discolouration

SAUCERS - both saucers are in very good condition overall, however both have very light - light brown tannin stains where the cup sits - not really noticeable but you can see them.
One saucer has a small chip right at the edge and underneath, one small fleabite
The other saucer is in excellent condition, upper and lower.

CAKE PLATES - both plates are in excellent condition overall, no damage to the upper on both although there is a light blue mark on one which is from the manufacture, not at a later time.
Underneath, both plates have a couple of light fleabites.

Overall, a nice example of Blue Willow around 70 years old.

These are part of our extensive collection but if you are a collector, you know how it goes - first you collect anything and then start specialising in particular makers or designs. We have moved on to the more decorative artistic chinaware's so these need to find a new home.
