We had/still have a LOT of English china or porcelain wares, these made for years of special occasion enjoyment for us.

Old Foley is the pottery works used by James Kent Ltd for the production of this item.

This backstamp was in use from 1955 onwards, we have always considered this to be from around the 1970's though.

JAMES KENT LTD - Sandwich Tray

Old Foley

Circa 1970's (although the backstamp began to be used from 1955 and was in use for years, this piece (we are pretty sure) is from the 1970's)

Bright white smooth porcelain with a high lustre

Opaque, meaning that if it is held to the light you cannot see shadows of your hand through the material

Heavy Gold gilding to the scalloped rim of the tray

Transferware application of the decoration - not hand painted

The design name is Regal Roses, a timeless rose garland design that has been extremely popular over the years.

Tray measures 10.5" x 5" x 1" (275mm x 125mm x 25mm) with a slightly increased height at each end (the handles)

COSMETIC CONDITION:

CLEAN

Very Good (but not perfect)

A couple of light knife marks in the glaze from previous use

Decoration shows almost no damage at all, but at one end (near a handle) there does appear to be extremely light wear to the petals of one Yellow rose - barely noticeable unless observed very closely.

NO crazing

Heavily applied Gold gilding around the scalloped rim shows practically NO wear at all

NO chips

NO cracks

NO fleabites

USED Exactly as described
