HISTORY:

I listen to a lot of music across many genre's because of my previous 'life' in the audio production industry but personally as a form of escape from the day to day "doom n gloom" that surrounds us. Music sets your mood and provides a form of escapism from reality but also can teach us all so much ... remember the song 'Only Eighteen' by the Bushwackers? Such sacrifice for his country in the name of war and today things are looking extremely bad with people suffering so much that I find it difficult to comprehend.

Some albums are very "special" to me and this is one of them. Many a time has it been played when I needed to "chill out" But the reality is that I am clearing out ALL of my previous business recordings and personal library so this album must now 'leave home" for someone else to enjoy!

This music is Chicago jazz, from the late 1920's. Times were very tough back then and yet this joyful, uplifting jazz music was created by Tiny Parham. This is REALLY GOOD jazz but wait .... it is not a reissue of his original music but in fact Parham's music played by an extraordinary group of jazz musicians from Melbourne in the late 1970's!

Toad's Krazy Kats were formed in Melbourne (1976) and instantly recognisable because of the large portrait of Tiny Parham on their bass drum (see the photograph on the rear cover, lower left hand side)

Members were:

John Sheldon (The Toad)

Mike Bellette

Peter Milley

Murray Kent

Noni Sadler

Clint Smith

Kevin Bolton

They had a regular 'spot' at the Golden Fleece Hotel in South Melbourne during the late 1970's and for those who would like to know more about these excellent Australian young (then) jazz musicians, the rear cover has an extensive biographical coverage and also provides insights into the Parham songs performed.

Studio recordings (Allan Eaton Studios - Melbourne) in 1978

Production by Bill Armstrong (yes that Bill Armstrong!) and Ron Halstead

For those who love their jazz, this album is one very good listen .... enjoy

Cover is in good condition, no seam splits, no personal writing and clean with only light edgewear from normal handling. Slight yellowing to the White/Cream background but not too bad. On the rear, some 'white-out' has been applied to discrete writings that one of our staff made next to a few track listings. These are just white-out marks and do not obscure any of the original information.

New plastic inner sleeve

Vinyl is in very good condition, visually inspected under a bright white halogen light source and I can see just a couple of very light scratches/marks on either side. Just looking at the vinyl is often not a very good way to judge the condition so I then played the ENTIRE album, every single track, and there are NO issues with surface noise nor clicks/pops - a truly wonderful jazz experience!

New outer protective sleeve

TRACKS: Jogo Rhythm, Snag It, Golden Lily, Dippermouth Blues, Tiny's Stomp, Once Or Twice, Bombay, I'm Wild About Horns On Automobiles, Sidewalk Blues, Nightmare, Snake Eyes, Jungle Crawl, Washboard Wiggles

THE TWO AUDIO TRACKS BELOW ARE NOT PERFORMED BY TOAD'S KRAZY KAT'S BUT IN FACT ARE ORIGINAL RECORDINGS FROM TINY PARHAM
