Traditional Australian folk songs that every Australian would (or should) know ... as the back cover says

"these songs should be sung by our people and especially by our children. They will instil a knowledge and love of Australia in a way no text-book or lesson can hope to achieve"

William Clauson was not a Kiwi or Australian performer, originating from USA (Swedish/American heritage) but he did tour both in Australia and NZ (1958) and was well known for his performances of folk songs from many countries, a sort of "international folk singer"

WILLIAM CLAUSON - Click Go The Shears (Songs Of Australia)

His Master's Voice (HMV)

Cat# OCLP 7531

195x (unable to be precise on the year of this release although I personally feel around 1957 ~ 1958 is probably close. The first release was in NZ, back in 1957 and this was followed by reissues up until the 1970's. This catalogue number falls right in the time frame of 1957 ~ 1958 OCLP75xx numbering)

MONO (probably)

It certainly sounds like a monaural recording and only later did some releases have the "psuedo stereo" electronic treatment

Australian release

Cover is in good condition, no tears, edges have very light (normal) handling wear, no writing however the rear cover has some noticeable old mildew or possibly "foxing" light brown spots, no smells though!

New plastic inner sleeve

Vinyl is in very good condition, visually inspected under a white halogen light source I can see NO significant scratches on either side. However visual inspections can be deceptive so I have played both sides ENTIRELY, (every single track) and there are no issues with surface noise or clicks/pops.

New outer protective plastic sleeve

TRACKS: Click Go The Shears, Waltzing Matilda, The Overlander, On The Banks Of The Condamine, The Old Bark Hut, Bold Jack Donahue, Botany Bay, The Lime Juice Tub, Moreton Bay, The Wild Colonial Boy, My Old Black Billy, Bold Tommy Payne, Wild Rover No More, The Dying Stockman
