This is where it all began for Bridget, her debut release ....

It has been so long since I have heard Bridget and she still sounds great even to this day .... if you haven't heard her before, she is a "must experience" if 70's folk is your thing, similar "vein" to Melanie - beautiful sweet voice performing her songs with meaning and passion!

Heavy card gatefold cover is in good (minus) condition, no tears, no seam splits, no personal writing however there are obvious visual signs of wear over the years!

ALL of these cosmetic issues are listed here in detail:

Brown stain mark running vertically down the spine (front and rear) and this is NOT a water mark but in fact created by tape residue when the previous owner made an attempt to strength the spine because of the album packaging design - see below for more about this.

The spine has NO damage or splitting but application of this tape (which subsequently failed over time) left these horrible Brown marks.

Front top right hand corner has more of this residue marks, a label used to be there but fell off years ago!

Inside the reverse gatefold cover is clear of any such marks but the cover "over-all" does have "foxing" where the cardboard reacts with the atmosphere, creating small Brown spots in the cardboard. This is a common problem in the world of books and this record cover is no exception.

There are NO smells to the cardboard!

SPECIAL NOTE: Don't you just hate it when the record label/artist try to be "creative" and use such a cover as this? It is a gatefold but back-to-front which means a lot of stress is placed on the spine as the cover needs to be fully opened before the vinyl can be inserted - not a clever idea! This is why the previous owner immediately strengthened the spine when the album was purchased - they just used an incorrect type of support (cellotape or similar is a no-no for record covers because it is acidic and will affect the card underneath)

Record label Side A (the coloured side) has a very faint name hand-written in the Purple area, very hard to read and no attempt has been made to remove it - such a beautiful label should be left alone!

New inner plastic liner sleeve - original sleeve was paper which had degraded considerably after 50+ years! I detest paper sleeves anyway ...

Vinyl is in very good condition, I visually inspected the vinyl under a bright White halogen light source, I can see just a couple of VERY LIGHT short scratches on either side - visually this is a great looker!.

Just looking at the vinyl isn't a very good method to judge the condition of the vinyl, so let's have a listen ... I have played the ENTIRE release, and there are NO audibly significant issues with surface noise nor clicks/pops.

What does "audibly significant" mean, Russ?

ALMOST all tracks play without any surface noise or click/pops EXCEPT the following was noted when I played this album after so many years ...

Side B: Track 1 has some very low level clicks towards the end of the track. This is a very quiet passage anyway so the light scratch makes its effect more obvious. Just a little increase in surface noise at the beginning of Track 2, same side.

No further issues noted on the remaining Side B tracks.

After all these years it was great to hear Bridget performing her music once more, particularly my personal favourite "To B Without A Hitch"

New outer protective sleeve

To fully appreciate this album, it is best to READ the inner notes sprinkled throughout the songs (read the lyrics too!), Bridget refers to the record sides as Part One and Part Two

PART ONE (SIDE A)

TRACKS: To B Without A Hitch, Autumn Lullaby, Curl Your Toes, Like Never Before, The Curious Crystals Of Unusual Purity, Barefeet And Hot Pavements

PART TWO (SIDE B)

TRACKS: I Like To Be With You In The Sun (Song for the Laird (Lord) of Connaught Hall), Lizard-Long-Tongue Boy, Hello Again (Of Course), Many Happy Returns, Broken Faith, Ask Me No Questions
