UK duo, Marc Almond (vocals) and David Ball (instruments)

Pioneers of the synth-oriented techno genre with their song Memorabilia and even though they are most well known for their very successful song Tainted Love, they had a number of other successful songs, particularly in the UK (notably Torch, Say Hello Wave Goodbye, What! and Bedsitter but there were other great songs such as Monoculture and Sex Dwarf)

Soft Cell made their cover version of Tainted Love, this song was originally released by Gloria Jones (girlfriend of T-Rex vocalist Marc Bolan)

Many artists have since made covers of Soft Cell songs, including Marilyn Manson, Coil, Nine Inch Nails, David Gray, Nouvelle Vague, and A-ha

Soft Cell had very good live performances, this double CD set is a great example of Soft Cell "in action"
