HISTORY:

My primary interests have always been electronics and the 'the arts' and more specifically, music, artwork and hand crafted/decorated chinaware's.

I have never really taken to film and am not a film enthusiast but an associate has asked me to find new owners for THEIR large collection of photographic and film items ... this is one of those items.

While the world of small format film is not my area of expertise, I am learning fast!

If this lamp socket is of interest to you, it is up to you to establish that this is the correct component for your projector.

I do believe that eventually these lamp sockets fail, I have a number of projectors here (from my associate) and noticed a couple needed the lamp sockets replaced due to heat stress primarily.

This socket is NEW and unused

I would assume that it is only for low voltage lamps (12 ~ 24V) because the lamp pin connections are very close together!

UNIDENTIFIED MANUFACTURER - Projector Lamp Socket (with flying lead)

Country of manufacture is unknown

Circa 1980's (?) - at first I thought this was a bakelite based socket (dark Brown) but the flying leads look too contemporary, "rub n smell' testing did not reveal the characteristic smell of bakelite or Yellow residue, it's plastic. The topside (lamp insert side) of the socket looks to be a fibrous high temperature product, hopefully NOT asbestos!

Type: Two pin socket with a much larger central hole which I assume is for lamp stabilisation (there is no electrical contact with this centre hole)

All contact areas appear to be Brass

Flying lead (2 wire) is 160mm length and terminated with female spade connectors.

The 'active' area is a small 'slot' which has a large hole in the centre and two much smaller holes on either side (for the lamp pins)

I have electrically tested this area and power is applied on either side of that central hole and as the distance is very small, there is no way this socket would suit use with higher voltages such as 110 ~ 250V !

Distance between the two active pin holes is just 4mm

The central socket large hole (2.25mm diameter) does have a Brass inner, actually I think it is like a rivet holding two halves of the body together, but it is not electrically connected to either wire

The manufacturer is unknown ...

Stamped into the body is:

992

Company logo which I cannot understand or figure out! In one direction it looks like HR but in another it looks like a flower graphic!

No other stamping or print on the socket at all

Socket measurements:

15.2mm wide x 16.2mm x 8.4mm height

Mounting feet to either side are not included in the above measurements, these add 4.75mm width to each side

COSMETIC CONDITION:

NEW

Old Stock

Supplied to me in a sealed clear plastic packet which I opened to check the electrical connections and take some measurements. I have now returned this socket to the packet and resealed it.

I am not a shop, there will be no further ongoing supply of these sockets - once the stock has found new homes, there will be no more
