OLD VINTAGE Heatsink
To many this item is just a used lump of metal but I am big on reusing or repurposing old electronic components and hardware, particularly from the point of view of sustainability.
HERE is a page I have created which gives some tables and more detailed information about specific Ee values for different materials plus a link which you can use as a starting point to investigate Ee for yourself.
UNKNOWN MANUFACTURER - Two piece friction fit heatsink
This OLD heatsink is quite unusual, I haven't seen many of these in my days and was surprised to find this in my "box of tricks"
It is intended to be used with some peculiar old germanium transistors from Sony, the 2T series which look for all the world like crystals!
Never seen those old Germanium transistors? Take a look HERE, yes I do have a couple of those transistors!
The large backplate of the heatsink is "possibly" Mu metal, it doesn't feel or look like steel and is definitely not Aluminium - it is a dull greenish/metal grey in colour
The smaller clamp which slides onto the backplate is definitely Aluminium
MEASUREMENTS:
60mm wide x 55mm height (excluding tags at the base for PCB support)
Central area is the clamping mechanism for the transistor 17mm wide
Into this area slides the top section, totally enclosing the transistor and holding it in place (bend the clamp slightly)
This clamp can hold a device measuring up to 10.4mm x 14mm x 2.5mm thickness
COSMETIC CONDITION:
Clean
NOT bent or mishappen in any way
Small clamp fits nicely (I tried it!)
Supplied in a sealed plastic packet
