To many this item is just a used lump of aluminium but I am big on reusing or repurposing old electronic components and hardware, particularly from the point of view of sustainability.

HERE is a page I have created which gives some tables and more detailed information about specific Ee values for different materials plus a link which you can use as a starting point to investigate Ee for yourself.

 

Great for a custom project or upgrading the heat disappation capabilities of equipment, particularly in the power supply section or discrete low power audio output stages.

These are identical to the Black heatsinks I have available with the exception of the Black coating on those, the finish looks like an anodised silver colour (not raw aluminium)

PCB mount

MEASUREMENTS:

50mm x 34mm x 12mm

Mounts onto the PCB using two pins (solder type)

Pins currently extend 4.5mm although the pin is actually 11.5mm length so you could extend the pin a little further if needed

Pin diameter is 2.2mm

Intended for use with TO-220 packages or similar e.g 3 terminal regulators, output transistors such as the BD139/140 complimentary pairs

One central hole for device mounting

Although the body is aluminium, this is useless for the PCB pins so the pins are nickel plated steel and are friction clamped to each side of the heatsink. This fitting is extremely tight but if you should wish to extend the pin length or for some reason remove the pins altogether, this is possible.

Clean heatsink and the pins are also relatively clean, a touch up before fitting onto your PCB would be wise to remove any nuisance 'solder dags'
