Removed from decommissioned Anritsu RF TX/RX test equipment - fully functioning prior to being "parted out"

The Japanese mobile cellphone system PDC was turned off by the last provider in 2012 so it is extremely unlikely that this module will be of any use BUT the internal components may be of interest....details below

Anritsu PDC Signalling Tester SPARE PART (Module Only)

Model: MD1623B

Module: RF 2

Anritsu ID numbers: RF 2 A0501 322U12348

4x SMA female input & output sockets

Most components are SMD

I do NOT have any Anritsu technical manuals/schematics for the MD1623B, the following information is my own observations

Basic technical information:

The MD1623B both receives and transmits TDMA test signals in the 800Mhz & 1.8Ghz bands. This equipment was designed for use with the Japanese PDC cellphone system and dates from the late 1990's. The PDC system was finally turned off in Japan 2012.

PDC was a system peculiar to Japan, more technical information is available here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personal_Digital_Cellular

Anritsu used "in-house" designations so there are no indications anywhere on the case or PCB about the purpose of individual sections of the module, but some reasonable assumptions can be made based on the components - although some components I could not identify.

Bear with me on this, I just have noted some devices that looked interesting on the TOP side only - I suspect there is more underneath but to get this PCB out of the casing would be quite a job so I have not looked underneath the PCB.

On the lower far right side is the onboard power supply, regulation control is provided by an NEC C3693 (Uce = 60V Ic = 10A) TO220 power transistor.

Next (and up) from the power supply control system is a serial input PLL IC, Fujitsu MB1502 with a 1.1Ghz two modulus prescaler (datasheet available), also a UPC1678 2Ghz MMIC wideband amplifier (datasheet available) I can also see a couple of devices which look to be transistors, marked only as Bo on the top with PCB designators of V which is a bit strange really.

Moving into the next compartment there is a AQV251A photoMOS solid state relay with very low on resistance (Panasonic), then there are two devices which I cannot identify

5MXD25-7 (8 pin all metal device like a DIL but larger - only Japanese characters printed on it, plus type number and pin number designations) PCB shows this as U3 which suggests it is an IC

1489E-10 Malaysia (5 port metal case) PCB shows this as Z10 but although Z is normally used for a zener diode, I doubt this is a zener! Perhaps a SAW device but I cannot find any reference to the device numbering.

In this compartment is also a couple of GaAs 2.5Ghz switches type SW-239 (MACOM)

In the central area sections there are a few "ordinary" HC and HCT logic chips

Moving right over to the left hand side, there are 2x those 5MXD25-7 devices and a 1311E-10 Malaysia (5 port metal case) this is marked on the PCB as Z5 and right up near the SMA sockets, another one of these but a 1441E-10 Malaysia plus a couple more of the SW-239 2.5Ghz switches.

In brief that gives an idea of what can be found on this module.

COSMETIC CONDITION:

Great condition, no damage at all to casing and all components have remained untouched.

TESTING:

Removed from fully functional Anritsu 1623B equipment (I even had an old PDC mobile handset on hand!) but it is extremely unlikely this module will be of use "as is" and it is being offered as a "smorgasboard" of special components.

Testing performed as outlined in the description. Used item, non returnable
