It can be a real pain when you are repairing or creating a custom RF project and need to get RF signal from one board/module to another board/module or to external connectors - high quality RF coaxial cable is required but you need just a short length, often a very short length.
Sometimes you can be lucky enough to find a supplier who will cut off 1 metre lengths but most often you are required to buy a whole reel of the cable, just to get that short length you need.
This short length may 'save the day' (ex broadcast communications equipment running in the Ghz region)
