Oh Dear! This item has been sold but take a look around for other similar items

In our previous professional audio post production days we tried many different methods of cleaning vinyl records

In the end we ended up with a nice Monk system but along the way we tried many different techniques and tools to do the cleaning job safely and effectively.

This is one of our old vinyl tools

If you really care about your investment in vinyl records, take a good look around online - there are a large number of methods/systems available - some are great, most are average and some are downright dodgy.

Metrosound Ioniser

Made in England

Barely used

This tool is basically a special brush which you hold in the hand and allow the vinyl to rotate underneath it for a few revolutions - similar to the Parostatik disc preener, the idea being that it will lift surface dirt from the vinyl - similar in principle to the rollers to remove lint from clothing.

There are two plugs in the brush base, these pull out and allow for fluid to be added (just a little) - distilled water, same as the Parostatik NOT a cleaning solution. Trying to do a major vinyl cleaning job with one of these brushes would be very foolhardy - it is most likely the end result will be a record surface with the dirt spread all over it!

The distilled water is to enhance the humidity and so remove/reduce static charges on the vinyl surface. The brush though will only be effective for very light surface dust - if you have a really dirty record, DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT.

If your vinyl is really dirty, with the dirt being deep in the grooves then this type of tool will not help you - in fact it is likely you could do more damage than good with this brush as you will be dragging heavy contamination all over the vinyl surface - shock horror!

This brush is useful where the vinyl is already very clean and you just want to maintain the condition at each playing

A simple tool but effective with the side benefit of vinyl surface static removal (which will attract more dust to the record)
