HISTORY:

Sustainability is the name of the game! Anything (that has been tested and still functioning properly) should be repurposed creating saving in wasted Ee and reducing the poisoning our environment when items are buried in the earth at the local tip needlessly.

Never heard of Ee? It is a concept that creates a measurement of ALL things (not just electronics) that humans have made and the energy used in obtaining the raw material, processing the materials right through to a finished product and even should include the shipping of the item to the distributors/retailers.

If you would like to know more about Ee values, please take a look HERE

While the Marantz PMD340 is a good workhorse in the audio production environment, it becomes pretty useless once the CD drive fails and the laser assembly has gone A.W.O.L!

This machine was in use by us for long periods in a studio environment, never missing a beat until the laser needed replacing. Tech's took the laser electronics out to have them replaced and "poof" disappeared, somewhere. So I have this PMD340 which is absolutely fully functional but without a laser - pretty useless.

I no longer am prepared to spend time servicing our equipment (retired and TRYING to have a break from all that) and as a result, this equipment has now become an "organ donor" for other PMD340 owners.

This is the Front panel LCD DISPLAY MODULE, (the interface with the human!), actually it also includes many of the function control switches, this board is referred to in the Service Manual as PY01

Perhaps you need a different part for your PMD340 ... To see the other items I have from our PMD340, please take a look HERE

Now to the specific information about this PMD340 Module, the DISPLAY BOARD

Part # WG371K201-0 PY01

Function is to provide visual information about what the equipment is doing and also control from the onboard mounted switches. Two types of miniature switches are fitted, membrane and micro-switch PCB mounted.

NO buttons are provided, they have been listed with the complete front panel assembly HERE (Not yet a live link, advertisement to be created)

NO permanent interconnections, all signals are routed via one Sumitomo 30 way flexicable, which runs to the main board. In addition to this there are two single wire leads which are grounded to the chassis, again these are screw connections - no soldering.

Philips head screws support this board behind the front panel window, this board is easy to remove and replace.

I must say that this Marantz PMD340 is a dream to work on, I have worked on many different machines over the years and this is an extremely well engineered piece of equipment - a real pleasure to work with!

I am supplying the following items ONLY:

LCD Display/User Control Board PY01

30 way flexicable

ALL original mounting screws

PCB DIMENSIONS:

221mm x 68mm

COSMETIC CONDITION:

The LCD face is unscratched and no signs of LCD damage (no dark spots)

A protective "plate" has been placed in front of the LCD screen to ensure that no damage can occur while it is on the way to it's new owner.

I have taken great care to not touch the Gold plated membrane switch contacts and these are now completely protected in sealed plastic.

TESTING:

Fully functioning until the laser assembly failed, now that the complete CD drive assembly has been removed the system still displayed what was happening (in a fashion) with all front controls active such as track selection, pitch bending etc but of course anything that requires signals back from the laser reading do not work!

I have taken one photograph of the LCD display "in action" but of course it shows a CD tray error (there is none!) I also made sure all of the switches were active and that the pitch control to the right (the large jog wheel) worked correctly - all is good.

HANDLING: This PCB has been carefully removed from the equipment while taking standard ESD precautions and the board is now placed in a sealed ESD safe packaging, awaiting it's opportunity to breathe new life into another PMD340!

USED Tested and exactly as described
