HISTORY:
Sustainability is the name of the game! Anything (that has been tested and still functioning properly) should be repurposed creating saving in wasted Ee and reducing the poisoning our environment when items are buried in the earth at the local tip needlessly.
Never heard of Ee? It is a concept that creates a measurement of ALL things (not just electronics) that humans have made and the energy used in obtaining the raw material, processing the materials right through to a finished product and even should include the shipping of the item to the distributors/retailers.

While the Marantz PMD340 is a good workhorse in the audio production environment, it becomes pretty useless once the CD drive fails and the laser assembly has gone A.W.O.L!
This machine was in use by us for long periods in a studio environment, never missing a beat until the laser needed replacing. Tech's took the laser electronics out to have them replaced and "poof" disappeared, somewhere. So I have this PMD340 which is absolutely fully functional but without a laser - pretty useless.
I no longer am prepared to spend time servicing our equipment (retired and TRYING to have a break from all that) and as a result, this equipment has now become an "organ donor" for other PMD340 owners.
This is the complete FRONT PANEL (IN THE NUDE) WITH ALL BUTTONS, which is referred to in the Service Manual as having multiple part numbers e.g 001B right through to at least 0049B - Reference the Service Manual for specific details but I am supplying ALL of the buttons.

Now to the specific information about this PMD340 Module, the FRONT PANEL and associated user control buttons
Part # 001B (Metal) 003B (Plastic) and many other sub parts
Function is to provide operator control of the system.
Front panel construction is Aluminium, Black gloss finish
Sub-front panel is moulded plastic
Remaining attached to the front panel is the INDEX, PITCH BEND, TRACK UP/DOWN, TRACK FF/RW White plastic buttons because they are on a pivot at the rear and although most likely removeable, I do not wish to risk damaging the pivots.
Buttons for track selection, EJECT etc are preformed plastic in a frame (you cannot just retrieve the 1 button for example, you need to replace the whole button assembly)
The PLAY, CUE, STOP etc buttons are rubber and again in a preformed design, if you damage the CUE button then you need to replace the whole assembly.
All escutcheons are included, as is the display viewing window (clear)

The headphone knob nor the Pitch control knob are included, they come with the relevant sub-modules which are advertised as separate items

Very good condition
I have inspected the front panel carefully and closely, no scratching observed. Black finish is even across the panel and the Gold labelling is clean/clear and undamaged.
Clear display window is unscratched and clean
Critical to this type of preformed plastic interconnecting button systems is that all linkages are undamaged. I have checked very carefully at the rear of the front panel and also the separate plastic "button block" and no damage observed at all.
The silicon rubber "button block" has also been carefully checked and I cannot see any issues here either - colouring on the button tops is unworn and clear.
I DO see a light scratch on the top side edge and it is extremely light and barely noticeable and certainly cannot be seen "front on"
Underneath I also "felt" a small nick along the edge of the Aluminium frame, again I felt it but can barely see anything at all.
So the front panel, while not perfect, is in very good shape - 9.5 out of 10 in my super-critical evaluation!
Not much good having a nice front panel and then not looking after it until a new "home" is found for her, so I have carefully put these components onto a "bed" of stiff cardboard, wrapped securely in bubblewrap and then completely sealed in clear plastic - she will be safe!
