HISTORY:

Once again I am back at the 'operating table' and my patient today is the SANSUI D-M7 Cassette deck.

Another sad case of user abuse, the case top section was badly marked and in fact this rendered the machine pretty unsightly and unattractive to a new owner. I couldn't locate a spare top section for this machine in my mountain of 'bits & pieces' and as the machine was working fine, I decided to pull out various 'organs' that I know from past experience others may need for their own machines.

I do like SANSUI gear although I am not so fond of the later equipment (this machine was produced in the early 1980's) where considerable cost cutting was undertaken, mainly in the cosmetics such as the faux metal front panel (plastic coated with an Aluminium finish). Nice solid steel chassis though, except the top cover which bends (and marks) quite easily!

So here is one of the parts I have extracted from the 'patient' ... R.I.P

SANSUI (JAPAN) - Single Cassette Deck (Spare Part)

Model: D-M7

PART: AC Power Transformer (220-240V AC input, switchable) along with the Power sub-PCB onto which is mounted the Power ON-OFF switch (push ON push OFF) and the Aluminium coloured plastic front panel button.

Part numbers:

Transformer: D1480EU

PCB: SANSUI 1335

Voltage input select switch appears to have no part number marked on it, this is a standard SPDT slide switch

TESTING:

The AC transformer is currently switched for 240V AC operation, the switch has been left in this position.

The transformer has just a single secondary winding

I have tested the transformer output voltages 'in-situ' and disconnect from the equipment main PCB

No load: 15.75V AC

Under load (cassette motors running): 15.00V AC

At times the output would momentarily dip to 14.75V AC when the multitude of solenoids within the cassette drive mechanism were operating.

Push ON Push OFF locking switch is working great, good solid lock and smooth movement

COSMETIC CONDITION:

USED

CLEAN

NO damage to any component nor the interconnecting wiring (transformer primary wires to the input select switch and off to the Power PCB)

I have now packed these components into a sealed clear plastic packet, ready to bring life to another D-M7 out there!

USED Exactly as described
