Every piece of equipment powered via the single phase AC mains supply should have one of these installed in the AC supply input line and often (but not always) there is some sort of EMI filtering built into the IEC rear panel socket but ... not always.
If you have equipment that is behaving strangely, particularly when other equipment is being turned on or off e.g motors, you may have an EMI issue (unwanted nasties travelling along the AC supply line along with the AC you really want)
The beauty of these "stand-alone" modules is that you can disconnect your existing rear panel IEC socket wiring, connect this EMI filter block between the power coming in and the power going to your equipment internally and your EMI problems SHOULD be solved.
