Avenue Signal Integration Systems

Sync Change Over Module

Model: 45005465 X1 Revision B

Serial # EUFG1869

This serial number MAY be useful, contact Ensemble Designs (USA) to establish if there is still existing customer support for this card, based on the previous broadcast industry ownership/registration of the product. Even if you do not require support, an installation manual would come in handy!

Supplied as pictured in this advertisement PLUS the rear backplane template so you know what port does what! (Accidently left out of the photographs)

Intended to be used alongside other modules such as the 5400, 5405 or third party Sync Pulse Generators (SPG) and it's purpose is to monitor primary sync sources and in the event of a failure, switch to secondary sync sources. In simplistic terms, this module is similar to the "dead air" monitors used in radio broadcasting, where in the event of a program audio failure, automatic switchover occurs to an alternative audio source.

A tri-section module (Pole A, B and C) which is able to accept Serial Digital SMPTE 259M, Analog Composite,AES Digital Audio or Tri-Level Sync.

Pole A looks after the digital signals, while Pole's B & C deal with analog composite, AES or Tri-level sync signals.

Additional control flexibility is available through the provision of GPI

For multiple signal sources, additional 5465 modules are able to be "ganged" together

Further information is provided in the photographs associated with this product.

CONDITION:

Used but excellent condition

Only handled under strict ESD protocols and stored now within an ESD sealed bag, this is also how it will be supplied.

TESTING:

Just like the Ensemble Designs "Avenue" frame that I have, it is not easy (nah, impossible!) to test one of these modules without correct source signals so I have had to rely on my background knowledge of this specific card and VERY BASIC "power up" testing.

The previous user was a major player in the broadcast industry and this product was fully functional at the time of decommissiong. It was only due to organisation wide technology upgrades that this module was decommissioned because of the upgrading regime.

My own "confirmation" tests made were far more primitive though, just inserted into the Advance frame (available separately) and powered up! All leds that should indicate, do...see the blurry photograph (technical expertise yes, cameraman no!)

I no longer have any suitable test sources for this card, these video and audio standards are pretty dated these days but I am extremely confident this card is fully functional based on my knowledge of it's history and my simple "power up" tests
