IMPORTANT UPDATE

All of the crafted works that I offer are from our personal collection, for most items we know where they came from or have a pretty good idea of the history of each piece. However our family could not recall where we originally obtained this Goldrush Ceramics water jug and bowl so I endevoured to try and establish the origins of these two ceramic items before seeking a new home for them.

What little information I could find about Goldrush Ceramics lead me to make a completely inaccurate assumption, with my conclusion (at the time) being that these two pieces had only been decorated in Australia.

I have been reliably informed that these two pieces were in fact completely crafted and decorated ENTIRELY IN BALLARAT, VICTORIA.

These two pieces of Goldrush Ceramic wares are indeed genuine Australiana, a slice of historical Australian ceramics from the Ballarat area

APOLOGY

When a mistake has been made, I will always be forthright and admit it.

I made an initial (incorrect) assumption regarding the origins of these pieces and unreservedly apologise to the creative artists, Trevor & Pauline Mann for casting dispersion's upon the skills they obviously exercised in creating these pieces.

Ballarat has a proud reputation of being a hub of ceramic craftsmanship, there were/are many very established and well known ceramic workshops/studios producing uniquely Australian pieces.

DLAT RATING: 9/10 (Darling, look at this!)

GOLDRUSH CERAMICS - Pouring Jug & Bowl set

Entirely crafted & decorated in Ballarat, Victoria

White Ceramic base material

Colouring is predominately a soft Apricot

Decoration is a pink bush rose (open bud) with a couple of other bush roses (closed buds) and foliage

Gold gilding has been applied to the top rim of the bowl, top rim of the pourer jug, down both sides of the pourer jug handle.

Very well crafted and decorated pieces, particularly the pourer jug, it is outstanding! It is this visual appeal and design reminiscent of the large English bowl & jug sets from the early 20th Century that instantly attracted us to these pieces from the outset.

DIMENSIONS:

POURER JUG:

Small

150mm high x 120mm diameter at the widest point - it would struggle to hold 500mL of water

THE BOWL:

POURER JUG: 300g

High gloss glazing used on both pieces externally and inside the pourer jug

However

The pourer jug has a gold metallic sticker attached to the base, the text of which reads:

We have had this jug & bowl set for a long time but now it must make room for other pieces and so it is looking for a new caring home! These two pieces used to be placed near the front door entrance of our house and they always drew comments from visitors, it's just a shame we didn't know enough about where they came from originally!

While there is currently a business named Goldrush Ceramics operating in Ballarat, I have not had confirmation of their website or Facebook presence so I cannot provide a link to their website/FB page

While our family does not go hunting around for ceramics these days, if you do happen to come across other pieces from Goldrush Ceramics, and they are in good condition - grab them! That's a piece of quite difficult to find Australian ceramic you are holding in your hands ...
