HISTORY:

Very 1960's tableware from the period when a 'typical' modern kitchen had a lot of brightly coloured chinawares - nice bold colours that jumped out at you!

The origins of this tableware look to have been lost in time though ... originating from the 'hot bed' of English chinaware, Staffordshire area. The area has always been a thriving hub of pottery works with well known potters such as Meakin and Wedgwood & Co, and many lesser known potteries. This Limelight example would appear to be one of the lesser known potteries as all information about them seems to have disappeared!

LIMELIGHT - Tableware Bowl ONLY

For 'everyday use' nothing fancy about this bowl

The chinaware is opaque, meaning that if held to the light you cannot see the shadow of your hand through the bowl.

All over 'Sunshine Yellow' colouring, no artwork

DIMENSIONS:

164mm (6.5 inches) diameter x 50mm (2 inches) deep

BACKSTAMP:

Not much to say about this, printed (under the glaze) in Black

(Limelight company graphic - ballerina in tutu with large side stage curtains)

Limelight

STAFFORDSHIRE

ENGLAND

No other distinguishing marks

COSMETIC CONDITION:

CLEAN

Barely any signs of useage at all, not even any spoon scrape marks inside the bowl

NO cracks

NO crazing

NO discolouration or 'patchy' colouring at all

NOTE: If this is being used as a replacement piece, carefully check the "yellowness" of your own pieces because we did have other bowls from this set and we noticed very slight variations in the Yellow across the bowls - they were not always consistent with some lighter and some a deeper Yellow.

I have tried to make the Yellow as near to 'real life' as possible in the photographs

NO utensil scrape marks or scratches to the inside of the bowl

Nothing is perfect in life! This bowl does have two small fleabites to the underside - nothing dramatic but they exist none-the-less

USED Exactly as described
