SAJI (Japanese) - Decorative Hanging Plate

Made in Nagoya, JAPAN

Manufactured 1950's ~ 1970's (based on the backstamp and that is it transferware decorated and not hand painted, the later years around the 1970's are more likely)

Bright white base porcelain

The porcelain is semi-translucent, meaning that if held up to the light you CAN faintly see the shadow of your fingers through the plate (it is quite thick).

Pattern: Name Unknown

The design comprises fancy edge rim design with gold gilding 'tipping'

The central artwork is a large pink/red rose bud with foliage.

Transferware - NOT handpainted

That said, it appears that the gold gilding around the rim has been hand applied

The artwork colours are bright and vibrant.

208mm diameter

Two holes in the rear for hanging display purposes

Hanging weight: 350g

BACKSTAMP DETAILS:

Four colour printed design & text (under the glaze)

SAJI (surrounded by the Crown & banner logo)

COSMETIC CONDITION:

CLEAN

NO cracks

NO crazing

NO discolouration - the artwork is in superb condition

NO wear is showing to the artwork

NO broken lattice segments

NO chips or fleabites top or underneath

HOWEVER ...

The gold gilding does have some light medium wear, not dramatic but if I was to rate the condition of the gold gilding out of 10, this would be a 9/10 - not perfect but pretty good none-the-less

Condition exactly as described Non-returnable used product
