Oh Dear! This item has been sold but take a look around for other similar items

Wade is historically famous for the introduction of the very collectible Wade Whimsies and the almost as well known but not as popular today, Wade Gurgle Jugs and Decanters

George Wade joined his father at Manchester Potteries, Burslem and eventually when George Junior took over the business, becoming George Wade & Sons Ltd from around 1922.

GEORGE WADE & SONS LTD

Handcrafted & handpainted art pottery

Brambles series

Base colour is a light brown/tan

Decorated with green/brown foliage, pink/red and purple fruits or flowers on the body and handle.

Set of three afternoon tea pieces:

a) Milk Jug

b) Sugar Bowl

c) Cream Pourer

Backstamp indicates these items date between 1945 and the early 50's

COSMETIC CONDITION (EACH ITEM DESCRIBED INDIVIDUALLY)

a) MILK JUG:

Stands 9cm (small)

No cracks, crazing or chips

Light discolouration inside

b) SUGAR BOWL:

Stands 6cm

Diameter opening 7cm

Open bowl design (no lid)

Light external crazing

No chips

Light crack visible internally from the lip to the base, externally it looks like a line of discolouration. I gave it a wet test so you can see this crack more clearly in the photograph

Internal light crazing

c) CREAM POURER:

Stands 6cm high

Length is 15cm total (including the large handle)

Light crazing externally and internally

Some light discolouration inside

No chips

One small, short crack is visible internally 1.5cm long, shows as discolouration externally. I gave this piece a wet test as well, so that the crack is more easily seen in the photograph

I believe the light discolouration I mention above is due to glaze breakdown with moisture getting underneath the glaze, causing discolouration. This theory is given further evidence by the signs of light crazing mentioned above.

I HAVE MADE NO REPAIR ATTEMPTS

I am pretty 'fussy' about any items I am offering and even with the flaws mentioned above, these still look very nice and are completely useable!

I will NOT split the trio, this advertisement is for all three items.

Offered to those who collect unique Wade Pottery which is now becoming very hard to find, in any condition.

Tested as described in the description This item is not returnable, UNLESS not as described
