Da man is African, from Mali to be specific. Known locally as Kar Kar, he sings the blues and is a damn fine songwriter and performer but it must be realised that Boubacar is singing in his native language, NOT ENGLISH! The national language of Mali is French but that is not the language he is singing in.

Through his brother he learned and adopted a "Cuban" style to his music, sort of American, Cuban with a touch of Arab influenced blues if you like.

There is so much to this artist that it makes for very interesting reading and I strongly suggest taking a look inside the front booklet which details his difficult life and eventual success and recognition as an international performer deserving wider recognition outside of Mali.

Enjoy the music (excellent acoustic guitar playing) and even if you don't understand the words, you can "feel" the song.
