The Philips PM series of professional video test pattern generators were "stock in trade" for the professional television serviceman from many years ago.

I like to restore dated equipment where possible but too many cosmetic things were wrong with this pattern generator so it is now being "parted out"

Philips Colour TV Pattern Generator

Model: PM 5519

SPARE PART ONLY, AS DESCRIBED BELOW

Complete lateral carry handle assembly

Original

Part # various

This is the complete carrying handle assembly - possibly adaptable to other equipment although special holes need to be punched into the enclosure to use this handle assembly (see the photograph)

If considering using this carry handle assembly on 3rd party equipment, the measurements are:

293mm (top bar) length OD

163mm (top bar to lowest part of the rachet assembly) length OD

Tapered arms, 20mm wide at the rachet end and 10mm at the top bar

Note that a special (and difficult to reproduce) cutout is required as it forms part of the rachet system

The arms & top bar are all diecast metal. The black section appears to be some sort of seamless vinyl/plastic material over the metal.

Rachet assembly is a mixed of hardened plastic and metal.

Complete and fully functioning with no issues.

No damage at all

Very clean

NOTES: To remove these Philips lateral carrying handle assemblies, first EXTREMELY CAREFULLY remove the small plastic push button on each side. It is clipped into place and being plastic, care must be taken not to damage the plastic. Once removed, the fixing screw (Philips head) is then accessible. Remove this screw and the whole fixing of the handle assembly will come away from the enclosure. Reverse this procedure to reinstal.

I studied the handle cross bar and arms but cannot see how to separate these - no screws or even hidden fixing points so the handle will be supplied exactly as photographed and not "broken down" any further. There is some "trick" to dismantling this because Philips list the top bar as a separate part number in their parts list.

Overall, this Philips carrying handle is of a reasonable quality, strong but to be frank it is not in the same class as a Schroff product. There are no identification markings on this carry handle assembly - it could well be a Schroff product but unmarked (similar design)

Supplied in a sealed plastic bag

Tested as described in the description This item is not returnable, UNLESS dead on arrival
