HISTORY:

Keithley Instruments (USA) specialise in high quality data acquistion equipment and have been around since the mid 1940's. Around 2010 the company changed ownership and became a subsidiary of Tektronix.

These silicon conductive keypads (2) come from a 7002 which had been completely tested but ended up being 'parted out' because it had VFD issues and one SMPS power supply was "outside of specifications". I felt it was more sensible to be offering the spare parts instead of a "dead" piece of equipment.

This is the UPPER SECTION of the conductive silicon keypads, the part that protrudes out of the front panel for the user to operate. This part has a very small conductive "pill" within each button and when pressed, makes contact with the silver plated contacts on the Display PCB (not supplied)

If you are having trouble with your 7002 buttons not activating properly, there is a good chance this is the part you need (and don't forget to clean the pads on the PCB as well)

KEITHLEY INSTRUMENTS Data Acquistion Switch Mainframe SPARE PART

Model: 7002

Part: Front panel conductive silicon push buttons with "pills"

Labelling on each button is clean and undamaged

NO silicon "collapse" or damage

Before working on your 7002, follow ESD safety measures

Easy to fit, just remove the side screws and lift out the front panel...you now have full access to the front panel/rear. Take out the screws securing the display board, this is where these silicon front panel keypads sit. Fitting is assisted by locating lugs on the front panel. Reverse the disassembly and then go to the TEST menu and run the BUTTON TEST to ensure all is now well.

Prior to removing these keypads that is exactly what I did, went into TEST mode then BUTTON TEST and pushed each and every button and made sure the 7002 said "yep that's a good one" - all is fine with these buttons.

To ensure the conductive pills do not become contaminated they have been placed within a completely sealed clear plastic and then mounted on a stiff cardboard to ensure they do not flex everywhere!
