I am hoping someone who is "into" servicing Tara electronic equipment may like these as spares OR they can be erased and re-programmed.

I am sorting through masses of my electronic spare parts and came across these EPROM's which are programmed for use with the Taraphone (Tara) radio-landline communications systems.

Tara systems were widely installed across Australia and beyond (NZ in particular)

Taraphone was a trademark granted to Metergram P/L (Australia) in 1983

I do have complete TARA systems available, these EPROM's are offered as spare parts only

Tara 2000 Radio Interface (spare part)

The EPROM manufacturer is unrecogniseable (full device ID is covered by the programming label)

The only visible marking on the ceramic body (not plastic) is:

(solid rectangle) FG (solid rectangle)

28 pin DIL ceramic package

Programming label reads:

T2K V4.4 (hand written by the programmer)

Admittedly there are not a lot of Tara Systems in the field these days, largely superseded by digital communications systems but some are still in use (remote communications systems and experimental/hobbyist applications e.g Amateur Radio auto patches).

A secondary purpose for these EPROM's could be to erase the programming (blast of UV light through the window) and re-use the EPROM although I don't have specific information about the size of this EPROM device, it could be anywhere from 8K to 128K and could be N-MOS or C-MOS.

Lots of old commercial game machines use this type of EPROM with the very small (by today's standard) capacity.

These EPROM's have been storage on ESD material but that doesn't necessarily mean they are C-MOS based because we placed most ic's on ESD material as a precaution anyway!
