USED, these knobs are "pulls" from my another of my beloved amplifier collection.
My Technics SU-V2 has now become an "organ donor" and these knobs can be extremely useful in either a SU-V2 or perhaps other equipment, not limited to just Technics gear.
I have attempted to provide detailed info on each piece to help in establishing the suitability for other equipment
You might be wondering "why did he turn his amp into an organ donor?"
Its sad but after years of putting up with rather touchy speaker select switches, finally they both failed completely (sealed units) so I could only use the headphone socket.
I am very big on sustainability, re-using or re-purposing equipment (no matter how old it is) because a LOT of EE (Embedded Energy) was used to create these items from our past and to throw something like this away, poison our landfill etc is just so irresponsible.
So I have saved the known working and useful parts ... here is the complete description
Technics Stereo Amplifier
Model: SU-V2 (Australian release)
Complete front panel knobs & paddle switch tip knobs
Exactly as in the picture and more information is:
ALL knobs are supplied with the rear dust cover, these are important and must be refitted if missing already. I forgot to take a photograph of these but they ARE included.
1x 43mm diameter x 26mm high large metal knob with plastic insert (VOLUME). The knob has a pointer (no infill colour) and the metal is real, not metallised plastic!
1/4" shaft fitting with a flat spot - an internal metal spring helps retain the knob on the shaft
Removal or fitting is simply push on - pull off
3x 20mm diameter x 20mm high medium metal knobs with plastic insert (BASS TREBLE BALANCE). The knob has a pointer (no infill colour) and the metal is real, not metallised plastic!
1/4" shaft fitting with a flat spot - the internal insert is designed to grip the metal control shaft - no metal spring
Removal or fitting is simply push on - pull off
2x 28mm diameter x 22mm high solid aluminium knobs with a single grub screw (hex head) (RECORD SELECTOR INPUT SELECTOR), The knob has a pointer (no infill colour)
Fits a standard 1/4" metal shaft and the grub screw looks after securing the knob to the shaft
NOTE: the measurement above for this knob is the KNOB ONLY, the fitting shaft does extend a further 8mm deep and is 11mm diameter
4x paddle lever switch tips (POWER ON OFF LOUDNESS SUBSONIC FILTER HI FILTER) All of these have almost all or at least some of the horrible metallic silver paint flaked off. These were such a terrible design idea and just about all paddle level tips I have ever seen exhibit this problem. So the plastic body is basically white and needs a new coating applied. Any remaining paint is easy to remove (flakes off).
If ever you were thinking of respraying these then take into account any possible chemical reaction between the paint to be used and the plastic of the switch tip.
The fitting is a very small clamp that grabs the paddle lever switch shaft
Fitting is push on pull off
All knobs above come with their dust protector sleeves.
COSMETIC CONDITION:
All knobs are in good - very good condition, clean and undamaged
No unsightly marks or scratches
If you wished to polish these up, the surface is dull (probably anodised) and all metal, rubbing will not remove the finish!
Since removal, this complete knob set is now contained within sealed plastic to protect them from the environment/dust & dirt.
